Peridress.com / Guides / How to pick season appropriate wedding colors?

Doesn't every season seem to be "wedding season" nowadays? Depending on your town's weather and availability of flowers, choosing your wedding colors based on the season can be a beautiful way to add a touch of vibrancy to your already-perfect day.

  1. Write down the colors that come to mind when you think of the season you're getting married in.
  2. Think about your wedding venue (both ceremony and reception venues) and what colors it encompasses. Match those colors to seasonal colors.
  3. Search for items that may encompass a color you really like. For example, if you love the red tones that are usually displayed in summer sunsets by the beach, go to Google Images and type in "sunsets" and "beach."
  4. Upload any images that contain the color(s) you like to degraeve.com/color-palette or colorhunter.com. These sites will generate color matches and even assist with accent, corresponding or opposite colors.
  5. Do a little research to see what colors the experts think will be hot and trendy during that season. Mix and match the colors you like to the season's in-colors.
  6. Take some samples or palettes, along with visuals of the dominant colors within your ceremony and reception venues, to a few florists to see what they would recommend. Remember that most florists aren't only experts at flowers, but at color as well, as choosing a flower in the appropriate shade is an important part of their job.
  7. Consider your various options and decide on your wedding colors. Coordinate your bridesmaid dresses and flowers to accent or emphasize your seasonal color choices.
